Color Time
I just love these. They are available locally at Worthwhile downtown. I don't know the cost but will check into it. How great to take with you to restaurants or pull out while you are cooking dinner. Availabe online http://www.modern-twist.com/_modern-twist.php?product=page&which=pldpclbk

Menu Planning Monday
Here is our menu for the week. This is my first time linking so I will get better. Click on the day to see recipe. Next time I will link it to the menu item. Some days don't have a link as they are just your kitchen basics. Monday's dinner is one of my family's favorites and from a chef we love-Jamie Oliver. So easy and yummy but, I leave out the egg and just add cream.
Monday-Farfalle with carbonara and spring peas
Tuesday-Salsa Verde Pork over rice
Wednesday: Soup beans, corn bread, squash casserole (note: This is a a meatless menu and one my grandmother often served. Soup beans are a bag of pinto beans soaked over night. Then follow the recipe on the bag. Feel free to add a ham bone. She served this with finely chopped onions and relish (not hot dog but, the good stuff). Corn bread is always on the side.)
Thursday: 50's Chicken and Noodles Casserole , fresh green beans
Recipe: 1 Rot. chicken (chopped), 1 can cream of celery or mushroom, 1 can cream of chicken, salt and pepper, egg noodles, and potato chips
Cook noodles, drain. Mix chicken an soups together. Salt and pepper. Put on top of cooked noodles in a greased baking dish. Top with potato chips and bake at 350 for 50min.
Friday: Open Face Steak and Fries
Saturday: pizza dough from Whole Foods to make individual pizzas, salad
Sunday: Daddy's night to cook-making fish and chips -Yummy!
Even if you did not vote for the man...
you have to love this photo. Love everything about this picture. The look, the lean, her dress, the smiles, his jacket on her, and the four men wishing they weren't watching this... Too cute and just- sweet. Hope you had a "love"-ly weekend with your sweeties.

Teachable Moments
During my first year of teaching, my principal encouraged his teachers to stray from our daily agenda if a "teachable moment" presented itself. I was always aware of these moments as a teacher but, struggle sometimes as a mother. Just too much to do with the chores of daily life. However last week, I got a reminder in the form of a GOOP newsletter. I enjoy getting these each week from by friend Gwyneth P. This week the focus was to "Be" with our children. So perhaps I overdid it this weekend with Valentine Card Making, family cleaning day, baking homemade cupcakes from scratch, and then watching Gwyneth's hubby on 60 minutes.
